In Rosterr, a leave request is called a notice (an inactivity notice). Submitting one tells your leadership team you will be away, so it can be approved and your absence is recorded.
Before you start
You need the Create notices permission. If you see "You don't have permission to create notices", ask an admin. Notices are on by default in a new workspace. If the Notices page is missing, an admin may have switched them off.
Submit a request
Open Staff in the menu and choose Notices.
Under Request Inactivity Notice, choose the Type: Holiday, Sickness, Personal, Education or Other.
Choose your Start Date and End Date. The end must be after the start.
Write a short Reason for Inactivity.
Submit. You see "Notice submitted for review!".
Your leadership team is told. If your workspace uses the Rosterr Discord bot, the reviewers get a direct message with Approve and Deny buttons.
Follow it
Under My Submitted Notices you see your requests with their status:
Pending: waiting for a decision.
Approved: active or upcoming.
Denied: not approved. A reviewer may have left a comment.
Revoked: an approved notice that was later cancelled.
You are told when a decision is made, by a notification and a Discord DM.
What happens when it is approved
You appear in the Notices widget on Home and as away in the Directory, so others know.
Rosterr takes you off any session you host or hold a role in during your leave. You can see this warning as "Claimed sessions will be removed" when a reviewer approves.
If your workspace uses a leave allowance, the days are taken off your balance (see "Leave allowance (days off per year)").
On workspaces with the newer notice features, you get a reminder the day before your leave starts and the day before it ends.
Changing or cancelling
Ask a reviewer to revoke an approved notice, or ask a manager to edit it. If it is still pending, ask a reviewer to deny it, then submit a new one with the right dates.
Does leave count against quotas?
Notices record that you were away. Whether your quota is excused is up to how your leadership applies it. The Staff page shows the Notices column and a leave marker so managers can take it into account.
Common problems
No "Request" form. You lack the Create notices permission, or notices are switched off.
"Please fill in all fields". Type, dates and reason are all required.
"End time must be after start time". Check your dates.
