What you can do in the phone apps

Which screens the iPhone and Android apps have, how they are laid out, and what is only on the website.

Written by Liam Radford

The apps are fully native. They talk to the same Rosterr service as the website, so your data is always the same in both.

Layout (iPhone)

The iPhone app has a tab bar with five tabs: Home, Sessions, Mail, Alerts and More. Each tab has its own stack of screens, and your account picture appears at the top. More holds every other screen, grouped, and only shows the ones your role allows.

What is in the apps

The apps cover the same areas as the website's menu, subject to your permissions and the workspace's switches:

  • Home, the Wall, and Notifications.

  • Sessions (viewing, claiming and, with permission, assigning a host and editing a session).

  • Mail (reading, writing, replying, labels and filters on the iPhone, and composing on Android).

  • Directory and member details, Staff views, notices (leave), and recommendations.

  • Activity: the leaderboard, quotas, goals and timesheets.

  • Tasks, Policies (including agreeing to them), Docs.

  • Moderation and Alliances, for people with access.

  • Settings for your own account, including delete account.

  • If you are Nebula platform staff, the platform tools.

If something you do on the website is missing from your app, it may be one of the newer features that has not reached the apps yet (the apps trail the website by about one release).

Features the apps do not have yet

At the time of writing, these are website-only: Directory filters and export, rank history, the activity breakdown tab, copying a session, the calendar link screen, the signed-in devices list, and the seasonal themes. The apps do show warnings about clashing sessions, and show pinned and edited marks on the Wall.

Sign-in and pings

See "Sign in on the phone app (browser sign-in and the code method)" and "Notifications and pings: the bell, phone alerts and what you can switch off".

Accounts and plans

  • You can delete your account inside the app (see "How do I delete my Rosterr account? (and what happens to my data)").

  • You cannot buy or change a plan in the iPhone app. Use the website.
