What happens when a plan lapses or you go back to Free

Exactly what pauses, what stays, and what you must reduce when a paid subscription ends, fails or is cancelled.

Written by Liam Radford

A paid plan only counts while its subscription is active, or in its trial, and in date. Your workspace goes back to Free when:

  • a payment fails and the subscription becomes past due or unpaid,

  • the subscription is cancelled or expires,

  • a first payment never completed, or no card was added at the end of a trial,

  • or the dates say the period ran out and the payment provider confirms it was not renewed.

If the payment provider cannot be reached, a paying workspace keeps its plan for up to two weeks, then drops.

What is kept

Nothing is deleted. Existing quotas, session types, shared views and API keys stay. They keep working unless a paid feature (like a custom domain) was needed for them. You just cannot add more above the Free limits (3 quotas, 3 recurring session types, 3 shared views, 1 API key).

If you have more than the Free limit of API keys, the keys stay and keep working.

Getting it back

Subscribe again on the website. Everything resumes. Pro's 30-day trial is only for a workspace's first subscription.
