Docs is where your workspace keeps its guides: onboarding steps, rules, how-tos. Policies that people must agree to are separate (see "Policies and acknowledgements: read and agree to a policy").
Read a guide
Open Docs in the menu. You see the guides you are allowed to read, and folders (called containers) that group them. Choose one to read it. The same list of guides appears in the Documents widget on Home.
Who can read a guide
Each guide is shared with chosen roles and departments. You can read it if you have one of those roles, or are in one of those departments. People who manage docs (anyone with Create docs, Edit docs or Delete docs) can see them all.
Create a guide
You need Create docs.
In Docs, choose New Document.
Give it a name.
Write the content in the editor: headings, bold, italic, underline, bullet and numbered lists, quotes, code blocks, links and pictures, with text alignment. or switch to External mode and paste an https link to a document that lives elsewhere (people who open it are asked to confirm before leaving Rosterr).
Choose at least one role or department that may read it. This is required.
Optionally choose a folder.
Save.
Pictures must use a web address (https). Uploading a picture from your computer into a guide is not supported. Unsafe content, such as scripts, is removed when you save.
Edit or delete a guide
Open it and choose Edit (needs Edit docs). You can change the content, the name and who can read it. Delete needs Delete docs and cannot be undone.
Folders (containers)
A container is a folder. Each has a name, a description and the roles and departments allowed to see it. Admins create them with New Container. You can drag a document into a folder (or out of it) from the Docs page. Only people who can see a folder see what is inside it.
External documents
An external guide shows an Open link. Rosterr asks you to confirm before sending you to another website, because Rosterr cannot vouch for it.
Newer features
Workspaces with the newer documents tools also get drafts, version history and search. See "Drafts, version history, reminders and search for docs and policies".
Common problems
I cannot see a guide my colleague can. It is shared with a role or department you are not in.
I cannot find Docs in the menu. Guides can be switched off under Settings > Features.
"At least one role or department must be selected". Guides need an audience.
