Quotas explained (types, who they apply to, and how they are completed)

What a quota is, the kinds of target you can set, who it applies to, how it is marked complete, and the plan limits.

Written by Liam Radford

A quota is a target staff must meet each activity period, for example "120 minutes active" or "host 2 sessions". Quotas apply to groups of people (by role or department) and reset when the activity period resets.

Any task you describe ("Complete this task"). There is no number to measure

A quota can also be limited to one session type.

Who it applies to

When you create a quota you choose the roles and departments it applies to. People with a matching role or in a matching department get it. Staff who are not covered do not see it.

How a quota is completed

Each quota has a completion mode:

  • Automatic: it is complete when the measured number reaches the target.

  • Members mark it done themselves (for custom tasks): the person ticks it off.

  • Manager sign-off: a manager marks it complete for the person. This needs the Sign off custom quotas permission.

Where staff see their quotas

  • Home, in the My Quotas widget, which shows your quotas for the period and which are done.

  • The Quotas page.

  • Your profile, under Quotas.

  • In Discord with /quota, for the quota types Rosterr can measure from activity and sessions.

  • The Staff page shows Quota Complete and Quota Failed columns so managers can find who is behind.

Creating a quota

You need the Create quotas permission.

  1. Open Activity > Quotas and choose to create one.

  2. Name it, add a description, choose the type and target number.

  3. Choose which roles and departments it applies to.

  4. Choose the completion mode.

  5. Save.

Staff covered by the quota are told by a notification and a Discord DM (the person who created it is not).

Deleting a quota

People with Delete quotas can remove it. Deleting a quota removes it from everyone's view.

Plan limits

Free: up to 3 quotas. Pro and Business: unlimited. The limit only stops you creating more, it never deletes existing ones.

When quotas reset

Quotas are measured within the current activity period. Resetting the period starts everyone's quota progress again (see "Reset the activity period (manual and automatic)"). Before the reset, Rosterr saves each person's result to history.

Common questions

  • Why does my quota show 0 although I played? The loader may not be installed, you may be below the tracked rank, or the quota's session-type limit does not include what you did.

  • My quota says custom but there is no number. Custom quotas are tasks. Mark them done, or ask a manager to sign it off.

  • Can a quota be for one person only? A quota applies to roles and departments. For one person, use a goal instead (see "Goals explained (team and personal targets with a deadline)").
