This applies to workspaces that have the newer Directory, which is being switched on in stages.
A faster Directory
The Directory loads everyone in one light request (rank, departments and whether they are away, but no activity or session data). Searching and filtering happens in your browser, so results appear as you type.
Search: "Find people by name, rank or department".
Group by department: switch grouping on or off.
People in no department now appear too, under No department. The older Directory left them out.
Very large workspaces (over 5,000 people) show only the first people, with a note. Search narrows it down.
Filters
Filter by rank, by department, or by whether someone is away now. You can sort either way and choose whether to group by department.
Export to a spreadsheet
Choose Export to download the Directory, with your current search and filters applied, as a spreadsheet. You need the Export views permission. The export is recorded in the audit log. Names that begin with = + - or @ are made plain text so a spreadsheet cannot run them as formulas.
Rank history
Every profile in these workspaces has a Rank history tab showing when the person joined, and each promotion or demotion, with who made the change. It starts collecting from the day the feature went in, so it may say "No rank changes recorded yet. From now on, every promotion and demotion shows up here" for people who have not changed rank since.
Ranks are now recorded in one place for every kind of change (role sync, logbook, the game API, adding members), so the history is complete from then on.
