The Wall: posting, reacting and removing posts

How to post on the workspace Wall, add a picture, react to posts and delete them, and which permissions control each.

Written by Liam Radford

The Wall is the workspace's message board: "Share updates and announcements with your team." Everyone with permission to view it sees the same posts, newest first.

Post something

  1. Open Wall from the menu.

  2. Type in the box and choose Post.

  3. To add a picture, use the picture button. Pictures must be JPEG, PNG, GIF or WEBP and under 5 MB.

A post can be up to 10,000 characters. Longer text is cut off.

You need the Post on wall permission to post, and Add photos to wall posts to attach pictures.

React to a post

Choose the reaction button on a post and pick an emoji. Reaction counts show under the post. You need React to wall posts.

Delete a post

You can delete your own posts. People with Delete wall posts can delete anyone's. Deleting asks you to confirm, and cannot be undone.

Who can see the Wall

You need View wall. If you cannot see Wall in your menu, ask an admin to give your role that permission.

New things on the Wall

Workspaces with the newer Wall can also pin posts, edit your own posts, and give more than one reaction. See "Pin, edit and react more on the Wall (newer Wall)".

Tips for admins

  • Use the Wall for announcements and the Sticky Note on Home for the one thing everyone must see.

  • Give Delete wall posts to moderators only.

  • If photos are being misused, remove Add photos to wall posts from the role.
