Your first week as a workspace owner (a checklist)

A practical order for setting up a new workspace so your team can start using it quickly.

Written by Liam Radford

A suggested order. None of it is compulsory, but each step makes the next easier.

Day 1: roles and people

  1. Create roles for the kinds of staff you have (for example Management, Trainer, Staff, Trainee). Start from a preset if you are offered one. See "Create and edit a role (and choose its permissions)".

  2. Connect Roblox ranks to roles and press Sync Group. See "How do people join my workspace and get their roles?".

  3. Give each role only the permissions it needs. Be careful with Admin: it grants everything.

  4. Add departments if your group is divided up (for example Cabin Crew, Ground Crew). See "Departments: group your team and use them for quotas and policies".

Day 2: make it yours

  1. In Settings > Appearance, set the accent colour and check the workspace name and logo.

  2. Choose which features to switch on under Settings > Features: Alliances, Recommendations, Policies, Moderation, and the leave allowance.

  3. Write a sticky note on Home for new staff, and make the first post on the Wall.

Day 3: sessions

  1. Set up session types and their roles (what slots people can take). See "Session types, roles and slots (set-up for admins)".

  2. Create your first scheduled session and let staff claim places. See "How do I create a session? (one-off and repeating)".

Day 4: activity

  1. Download the activity loader and put it in your game so time spent in game is tracked. See "Set up activity tracking in your game (the loader, rank and idle time)".

  2. Choose the lowest rank that is tracked, and whether idle time counts.

  3. Create a first quota. See "Quotas explained (types, who they apply to, and how they are completed)".

Day 5: connect the extras

  1. Link the Discord bot so staff get direct messages and slash commands. See "Add the Nebula Rosterr Discord bot to your server".

  2. If you use Mail, turn it on and choose the short name for your addresses. This name cannot be changed later. See "Turn on Mail for your workspace (admins): short name, sender name, signature and rules".

  3. If you take applications through Nebula Staffr, connect it. See "Connect Nebula Staffr to review job applications in Rosterr".

Day 6 and 7: policies and review

  1. Write your first policy and ask staff to agree to it.

  2. Look at Settings > Audit logs to see changes being recorded.

  3. Check your plan limits in Settings > Billing (Free allows 3 quotas, 3 recurring session types, 3 shared saved views and 1 API key).
