Appeals, case timeline, templates and warnings that end (newer moderation)

The newer moderation features: a player appeals a case from My cases, reviewers decide, cases have a timeline, templates speed up cases, and warnings can expire.

Written by Liam Radford

These features are for workspaces that have the newer moderation, which is being switched on in stages. If you do not see them, your workspace has not received them yet.

The case timeline

Every case has a timeline: each change in order, in plain words, with who made it and when ("Opened the case, with a warning as the outcome", "Took back a permanent ban", "The player appealed" and so on). Private notes are never shown in it: only that they changed.

Templates

A template is a saved reason and outcome, so a common case takes two taps ("Chat spam: 3 day ban"). On the new-case form choose Start from a template. Picking one only fills the form in: nothing is created until you press Create Case.

  • People with Manage case templates can save the form as a template and remove templates.

  • Anyone who can open cases can use them.

  • A workspace can have up to 100 templates, with a unique name each.

Warnings that end by themselves

When you open a warning you can set Warning lasts (days), from 1 to 3650. After that time the warning is shown as ended and stops counting. Nothing is deleted. Temporary bans that have passed their end date are also shown as ended.

When a case is opened about you

If you are a member of the workspace and a case with an outcome is opened about you, you get a notification. You can read your own cases under My cases. This page only shows what you are meant to read: the outcome, the reason, the note written for you, how it stands now, and your appeal.

Appeal a case

  1. Open My cases (from the notification, or go to the My cases page for your workspace).

  2. Choose Appeal this case and explain what happened and why it should be taken back.

  3. Choose Send appeal.

Rules:

  • Only the player the case is about can appeal.

  • There must be a punishment still standing. If it was already taken back you cannot appeal.

  • One appeal per case. A decided appeal is final.

You are told when the appeal is decided. If it was accepted, the punishment is taken back and a ban is lifted.

Decide an appeal (reviewers)

People with Review appeals see the appeal on the case page, with the original case around it, and a list of all appeals. They choose:

  • Accept (take it back): the punishment is revoked ("Appeal accepted: ..."), and the matching ban is lifted.

  • Turn down (case stands): nothing changes.

A reason is required, because the player is shown it. Nobody can decide an appeal against a case they opened themselves. Two reviewers cannot both decide: the first decision wins.

A player who is not a member

A player who is not a member of the workspace has no account there to be told or to appeal through the website.
