A workspace is created from a Roblox group. It takes about three minutes.
What you need first
A Rosterr account with Discord and Roblox both linked (see "Sign in with Discord and Roblox (and link both accounts)").
Early access, if Rosterr is still on its waitlist (see "How do I get access to Nebula Rosterr? (waitlist and early access)"). If you were approved, your workspace is created for you automatically and you do not need to follow the manual steps below.
A rank of 25 or higher in the Roblox group. Rosterr checks your rank with Roblox. If it is lower you will see "You are not a high enough rank".
The group must not already have a workspace. A group can have only one.
A Roblox Open Cloud API key (below). This is how Rosterr reads your group's members and ranks.
Step 1: Your Roblox group
Enter your group ID, or paste the group's link. The ID is in the group's web address, for example roblox.com/communities/12345 means the ID is 12345.
Step 2: Connect it with an Open Cloud API key
Open the Roblox Creator Hub credentials page and choose Create API key.
Make it a user key, not a group key.
Add the Groups permission with group:read, and choose your group.
Copy the key and paste it into Rosterr.
Choose Test key. Rosterr tells you whether it works.
Rosterr stores the key encrypted and never shows it again in full.
If you want Rosterr to rank people
Reading the group needs only group:read. If you later want promotions, demotions and rank changes to happen in Roblox from Rosterr's logbook, the key also needs the permissions that allow ranking (see "Connect a ranking service for promotions and demotions (Open Cloud or RankGun)").
Step 3: Pick a colour
The first workspace on an installation asks for an accent colour. Rosterr uses it for buttons and highlights. You can change it later in Settings.
What is created
Rosterr creates the workspace and makes you its owner and a workspace admin. A new workspace starts with:
one role called Default, with no permissions. You are given it, but as an admin you can do everything regardless. Create your own roles next (see "Create and edit a role (and choose its permissions)").
Alliances and leave notices switched on, and Recommendations switched off. Change these under Settings > Features.
a Home page with four widgets: birthdays, new members, upcoming sessions and the sticky note.
five session role templates to start from: Host, Co-Host, Trainer A, Trainer B and Trainer C.
Other members of the group appear as their ranks are connected to roles (see "How do people join my workspace and get their roles?").
Limits
One workspace per Roblox group.
Some installations cap how many workspaces one person can own (the cap is two). If you hit it you will see "You have reached the maximum of 2 workspaces".
If something goes wrong
"You are not a high enough rank": ask the group owner to raise your rank, or have the owner create the workspace.
The test key fails: make sure it is a user key, has group:read, and is set to the right group. Keys can be set to expire, so check it has not.
"A workspace for this group already exists": someone else already created it. Ask them to add you.
